Day 5,April 15, 2023

Dinghy Day

Just when I was learning how to write a blog, this will be my last post.

Many of you know that our boat has been for sale. We have accepted an offer and assuming a good survey we will be selling “Into the Mystic”. This was a difficult decision, given our planned trip but we are at peace with it now.

We’re staying in Stuart a little longer, then heading back home, arriving sometime next week.

We knew this day would come eventually, and we decided that since we just began this trip, we may as well sell it before we get to far from home.

Our plan (assuming the deal goes through) is now to drive up the east coast eventually reaching Milwaukee where we will spend most of the summer. We are looking forward to spending more time with friends and family.

Day 2, April 12, 2023

Roland Martin Marina, Clewiston, Florida

Spending another night in Clewiston. It has been rainy and windy all day. Did some boat maintenance and learned how to use my new oven. Put on our raincoats and went for a walk, ending at the tiki bar. We are planning on leaving early Thursday morning to head across Lake Okeechobee arriving by early afternoon in Stuart, Florida.

Day 1, April, 11th, 2023

First day done! We left the dock in Cape Coral, FL at 8:01am EST. Headed east on the Caloosahatchee River towards Lake Okeechobee. Went under and through several bridges and navigated 3 locks. We arrived in Clewiston, FL at 2:15pm. It looks like we may be here until Thursday. Our first weather delay due to winds and waves forecasted for the lake tomorrow. Not much to do here in Clewiston. We were here last month for the Sugar Cane Festival and had a great time. Headed to the tiki bar for a late lunch at the Roland Martin Marina.

Happy 1st Birthday today to our Grandson Otto Miller!

Our Great Loop adventure will take us from our home port of Cape Coral, Florida up the Atlantic Intercostal Waterway, through the Chesapeake Bay, through the New York Canals and into the Great Lakes. We plan to reach Milwaukee, Wisconsin in early to mid July.
